Devotional: 002-Humility

God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble. James 4:6

• In today’s meditation, we continue on the subject of humility.

• The scripture for our review today is taken from James 4:6.

• The first part of the text reads,

God resists the proud.

• Pride must be a deadly thing for God to make it as an element He God resists.

• To have the God of the Whole universe resisting you(someone who carries pride) must be something worth thinking about.

God resists the Proud.

• Was it not this same pride that got Lucifer to be thrown down to earth from heaven?

• Now the word of God who is Jesus Christ, is telling us that, God opposes the proud.

• Aside oppose, another synonym for resist is stand firm against.

• These are strong words. I do not think anyone would want God to oppose him or her.

• The second part of the text is rather comforting.

But He gives grace to the humble.

• Grace is an unmerited favor. Favor is an undeserved merit or mercy. This is what the Lord God gives to the Humble.

• To be found in God’s favor is something that every individual needs to survive here on earth.

• Just to recap, know that God resists, opposes, stands firm against the Proud and gives unmerited favor to the humble.

• Pride comes naturally because it’s in our very nature whilst humility must be worked out.

• It takes a lot of efforts to be humble. We must be intentional about being humble.

• To be humble is to be submissive to God.

• Humility is being God-dependent instead of self-dependent. It’s trusting the Lord instead of your own flesh’s strength and ability.

Holy Spirit teach us to be humble.

God bless you for reading.

Devotional: 001-Humility

Now the man Moses was very humble (gentle, kind, devoid of self-righteousness), more than any man who was on the face of the earth.

NUMBERS‬ ‭12:3‬ ‭AMP‬‬

• Today, our subject of meditation is HUMILITY. The Bible records that, Moses was very humble. I believe this explains why God walked with him, revealed His mind to him to that level and showed his face (a deeper encounter) to him.

• The hallmark of Jesus Christ was also Humility. The Bible says, He humbled himself even unto death, a death on the cross.

And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.

Philippians 2:8

• May the Lord God cloth you and I with His garment of Humility.

• May this virtue of Humility not only be on our lips, rather, it would be seen in our lives.

• May we not just talk about it, rather, we would be found walking in this wisdom of God called Humility.

• Holy Spirit teach us to be humble.

God bless you beloved.

The Sheep and the Shepherd

What would happen to a sheep 🐑 traveling from say Taifa to Accra by itself? A journey of over 10km filled with dangerous roads, with high speed vehicles etc. There are infinite possibilities that may happen but some of the obvious ones are that; it may end up being knocked down by a car or perhaps end up being used as khebab. I am pretty sure u can add up to the list.

What am I trying to bring your attention to? If the sheep had a shepherd to guide it, we could all agree to the fact that, the chances of it getting to Accra safely would be a little close to 100% all things being equal.

LOT in the Bible didn’t know that his blessings were connected to Abraham, Elisha followed Elijah, Jesus had followers, The story of Ruth and Naomi….Esther and Mordecai … the list goes on…

My point is; we all need a shepherd, Our Master Shepherd is Jesus Christ notwithstanding, as Paul rightly said, follow me as I follow the example of Christ (1 Corinthians 11:1). God has placed Men and Women of God here on earth who has taken the path we want to use on today. We could avoid the mistakes of life by learning from these vessels of honor. The Sheep and it’s Shepherd. Learning the art of following.

Devotional: Fruit Bearers

GALATIANS‬ ‭5:22‬ ‭AMP‬‬

But the fruit of the Spirit [the result of His presence within us] is love [unselfish concern for others], joy, [inner] peace, patience [not the ability to wait, but how we act while waiting], kindness, goodness, faithfulness,”

We are fruit bearers. When we come to your tree, what are we going to carry away with us? Is it in anyway similar to what the Bible enlist here? What is the results of your encounter with His presence? We ought to examine our lives … a mango tree cannot produce Bananas… your content determines what comes out of you. It’s time to do self examination and ask God through prayer to work on you.

Devotional: I will make myself real to you

JOHN‬ ‭14:21‬ ‭AMP‬‬

The person who has My commandments and keeps them is the one who [really] loves Me; and whoever [really] loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and reveal Myself to him [I will make Myself real to him].””

See the Commandments of God as a treasured possession to be kept. You can be in possession of an item and throw it away after a while, but the text says, He who HAS and KEEPS my Commandments is the one who really loves me.

Firstly, have it and then hold onto it, don’t loose it (his commands i.e his word)

..Love is directly linked with giving. And God is calling us to higher dimension of Love which takes away the concept of just knowing but showing or giving. The Bible says, for God so love the world that He gave… Love is what He is and Love is what He gives.

Today, He wants to make himself real to you. Let’s walk with Him in light of His commands and that is God’s way of knowing that we really love Him. God bless you and have an awesome and lovely day.

Devotional: Is His Presence (God) Your Home?

PSALM‬ ‭91:1‬ ‭AMP‬‬

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High Will remain secure and rest in the shadow of the Almighty [whose power no enemy can withstand].

The blessings in Psalm 91 are tied to this pre-condition. The pre-condition states: He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High.

• Making the presence of the Most High your home goes beyond church attendance. We know cars are parked in the garage notwithstanding, if you find yourself in a garage it doesn’t necessarily make you or turn you into a car.

•The life of a person that seeks to enter into the kingdom of God is a life that Has Jesus Christ as its central focus.

• Is Christ fully formed in you?

• Have you made the shelter of the most High God your home?

• Are you staying there or you are just visiting? Visitors don’t enjoy the full benefits of the permanent residence of a home.

• Seek to be in the presence of God daily, every moment and I believe you can fully claim the blessings enlisted in Psalm 91.

God bless you for reading.

Devotional: What do you do when you are alone?

Philippians 1:27

Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence….

My Lessons from the Text:

• Paul admonished The Philippians that in his absence, their conduct should be worthy of the gospel of Christ.

• What Paul was trying to bring their attention on was that, when they are left on their own, (when they are alone), their conduct should still Merit Christ.

• You know as Children, we were always found putting things in order when we hear our parents are returning from town. Should that always be the case as children of God?

• The test of your Christian walk is not when we are in church (when everyone can see us) but when we are alone.

• Testing comes when we are alone. When I am (Jesus) not around would u compromise?

• When Jesus was all alone after fasting for 40days and 40nights, the Devil came testing Him. We all know the end of that story, but a side of that story is if Jesus had compromised on His faith, would u and I have a share in the Kingdom today?

The Big Question is what do u do when you are alone? This Easter, reflect on what Jesus stood His grounds for and make it a point to hold on to your faith no matter what. Don’t compromise on your faith.

Growth is Necessary

We could learn a thing or two from the behavior of kids. A kid with the mother walking around in town would most times cry out for the least thing he/she sets the eye on that he/she likes. “Mummy, Mummy, I want this, I want that”. They are easily affected by the things that surrounds them. This illustration is analogous to a child of God who is refusing to grow in Christ. You are moved by every wind that blows your way. Tossed to and fro by any wind of preaching out there.

Now I say, That the heir, as long as he is a child, differeth nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all;
[KJV] Galatians 4:1

Growth is necessary. Paul in his address to the Corinthians said

Dear brothers and sisters, when I was with you I couldn’t talk to you as I would to spiritual people. I had to talk as though you belonged to this world or as though you were infants in the Christian life. I had to feed you with milk, not with solid food, because you weren’t ready for anything stronger. And you still aren’t ready,
(NLT) 1 Corinthians 3:1-2

As children of God we ought to come out of our comfort zones and yield to the growth process. Remember, growth entails a change process and change is always not easily welcomed. It takes only the Spirit of God to break us out and our willingness to conform to His directives.

May the Lord grant us Grace to grow and take up what is rightfully ours as heirs in Christ Jesus.

God bless you for reading.

No Midway

Have you ever attempted looking up the sky with one eye and look down to the ground with the other eye? You could try it but sort of an impossible act to do.
You either look up with both eyes or down with both eyes. No Midway.
So why this illustration? God’s word in Revelation 3:16 says (I am paraphrasing), you either be hot or cold, no lukewarmness else He the Lord will spit you out. The decision is yours to make.

Light has no option than shine in the mist of darkness. You cannot be light and not shine in this dark world. Light brings illumination around its environment, reveals what is hidden, where there’s light, darkness has to flee.
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Matthew 5:16[KJV]

God bless you for reading. Shalom.

Fruit bearers

A tree is identified by the kind of fruit it bears. The mango tree has remained a mango tree because it continuously bears the mango fruit.
The genetics of the mango tree gives it the tools and the ability to able to bear it’s kind of fruits. Till the mango is perhaps genetically modified, the fruit it would bear would continue to be its original kind.

By receiving Christ, you are “genetically modified” with the infusion of His Spirit to be a bearer of the Spirit’s fruits. How then are not bearing the fruit of the Spirit?
Your content determines your output.

Galatians 5:22-23[KJV]
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

A careful view of this scripture denotes that, God’s Spirit within us is symbolised by these fruits. Wherever you will find the Spirit of God, you must find these fruits. The scripture never said the Spirit will bear these fruits, it says these are the fruits of the Spirit. So to claim to be a child of God and yet you cannot be identified  with these fruits means you ought to examine yourself.

Yes there are seasons the mango tree may bear less fruits as compared to other seasons. This may be due lack of enough nourishment, absence of rain and a lot more.
Are you nourished enough?
Are you studying the word to get enough nourishment?
Are you engaging yourself in fervent prayer to be filled with more of His Spirit?

I don’t want to believe that it is just a mere statement to say that “the fruit of the Spirit is” rather than saying “the fruits of the Spirit are”. The scripture sees all the aforementioned ” fruits” as just one fruit that one should not be seen exhibiting one and not the other. They are all encompassed as one.

Probably, last year you exhibited much joy and meekness as compared to the others, this year let there be a balance. You may the faith guy, but what of love? What of goodness? What of gentleness? You must strive to bear much of all these fruits. Be identified as a bearer of the fruit of the Spirit.
Pray to GOD for more of His Spirit, that you may be able to bear much fruit. God bless you for reading.
